Potential students who live within our cachement area (use the TDSB Find Your School service to determine if this applies to you), may register for classes at David and Mary Thomson C.I. at any time during the school year. 

During registration you will be asked to provide the following:

  • Tax Bill, Lease, or Rental Agreement (proving that you live in our area)
  • 2 other bills from different sources that support that current address
  • At least one of the following pieces of ID for the potential student.
    • Permanent resident (PR) Card
    • Passport
    • Birth Certificate (Long Form)
  • The potential student's Health Card (if they have one)
  • A copy of the following (to ensure the student's records are accurate):
    • Last Report Card
    • Transcript of Credits Earned
    • Credit Counselling Summary
    • Attendance Record
    • Evidence of Ontario Literacy Test Results (EQAO)
    • Immunization Information (for students new to the country)
    • Community Hours
  • Guardianship / Custody Documentation


All registrations coming from outside of Canada/Ontario, and private schools (within Ontario) must go the Greenwood Reception Centre (24 Mountjoy Avenue, Room 105, 416-393-0750) for testing in math and English, prior to completing a registration package at David and Mary Thomson C.I.  If the potential student is born outside of Canada and entering the country for the first time,  during the current or previous 4 years, then an ESL Eligibility Form must be completed.

  • All registrants must see a Vice Principal in order to have their registration approved.
  • All students must complete the Toronto District School Board Application (front and back), as well as the David and Mary Thomson Student Information Package.
  • If the student has an I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) from a previous school, then please contact the Special Education department (416-396-5525 ext. 20254).

Be advised that there is a $25 registration fee payable by cash or cheque, due on the date of registration.

There will be a Grade 12 Post-Secondary Information Assembly on Thursday November 10th, and November 24th during period 2, and on Thursday November 17th during period 3.

 The guidance team will be visiting grade 12 classes during period 2 starting Monday, Oct 3rd to discuss the following:

  • OUAC (university) and OCAS (college) applications
  • Graduation requirements (Volunteer hours)
  • Scholarships
  • Remind.com (how we can send out reminders for important dates)
