For any students aged 16-21 years, interested in working in recreational related jobs and with children such as after-school programs and summer camps; Youthlink, the City of Toronto and the North West Scarborough Youth Centre are offering three key certifications: soccer fundamentals coach, emergency first aid/CPR, and PRO High Five on March 2, 9, and 23rd, 2012 at Silver Springs P.S. located at 222 Silver Springs Blvd. The fee is only $60 for all three courses (regular fees would be approx. $260) and lunch and TTC fare are provided. These programs are a big asset when applying for these types of jobs. 2013 Aspiring Engineer Scholarship
Students who have applied to an Ontario University Engineering program for the fall are eligible to apply for the 2013 Aspiring Engineer Scholarship. The application form and details for this scholarship can be found at on the Professional Engineer Ontario - Scarborough Chapter website: www.scarborough.peo.on.ca. The deadline for the application is July 4, 2013.
Dorset Park After-School Academic Support Program
Beginning on Monday March 4, 2013 Dorset Park Community will launch its after-school Academic Support Program which is designed to engage youth by providing them with curriculum support, pro-skill development and training, and access to community resources. This program will be held at McGregor Park Community Centre and it runs from 4:30 to 7:00 PM.
March Break Volunteer Opportunity
Wizard World Fun Park is offering a great opportunity to any students interested in completing all of their community service hours over March Break. Located at Exhibition Place inside the Better Living Centre, they have a number of volunteer positions in their March Break family event for kids ages 2-12 that runs from March 10th-16th from 10am-6pm daily. Employment Ontario and Springboard Employment Services are hosting a March Break Job Fair on Wednesday March 13th at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre from 12-5pm.
