It is with deep regret that we share news of the unexpected passing of Mr. Fiore on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Mr. Fiore retired last year from his long-standing position at the helm of Thomson's Business Department. Mr. Fiore was a valued member of the Thomson staff and community, and a caring and dedicated educator. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family.

Opportunities for Youth With Autism Spectrum Disorder
East Metro Youth Services at their 184 Galloway Road location has a number of programs available to youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder. There are afterschool programs for youth 12-18, operating from Monday to Friday with activities that include cooking, community outings, opportunities to make friends and to build your self-esteem and verbal communication skills. Fees are based on days of attendance.
There are also school break programs offered during March Break , Saturday programs and summer camps. Each program is unique and are staffed by experienced Child and Youth Workers.
Finally, there is also a Young Adult Day Program that operates from Monday to Friday with opportunities for volunteering, to increase your literacy skills, meal preparation and healthy life style tips. Community Champion Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Toronto and the Toronto Argonauts are sponsoring a "Community Champion Scholarship", renewable for 4 years. The criteria for applying to this scholarship are:
Grades sufficient for acceptance into a university program
Activity in school groups and/or recognized leadership

Two great opportunities are available for Grade 9 and 10 students preparing to write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
1. AFTER-SCHOOL OSSLT PREP CLASSES
Need extra help to prepare for the OSSLT?
This year DMT is offering 6-sessions after school, at no charge to students, to get grade 10 students ready for this important test, which will be written across Ontario, March 27, 2014.
Join Ms. Homewood and Ms. MacAdam for 6 after-school classes, on a first-come/first-serve basis, beginning Tuesday, February 11th. This is an opportunity to ensure you are prepared for the test, which requires 70% to pass, and is a requirement to graduate with an Ontario Seconday School Diploma.
If you are interested, please return the signed application to your home form teacher by Monday, February 10th at the latest.
Grade 9 students are welcome to attend these sessions if space permits.
